A few birds spotted in Kodagu

Red-Whiskered Bulbul, Madikeri, Feb 2012
Long-tailed Shrike, Katikeri village, late Feb 2012
Grey Wagtail

Grey Wagtail basking in the December (2010) morning sun on the road in Kakkabe, Kodagu. Kakkabe is a little village with "home stays" in the midst of Coffee estates that are convenient halts for climbing Tadiyandamol, the tallest peak in this section of the western ghats.

Large Pied Wagtail

Large pied wagtail seen during a morning walk in Kakkabe. The air is incredibly fresh and invigorating. The chirping and calls of a variety of birds can be heard though I am only able to capture these on camera.

  2. Hi Brij - it turned out that I could not do the trek for other reasons. What I found out was
    a) Almora -> Mukteshwar is only 5-6 hrs and is definitely one day hike.
b)One can also go Mukteshwar -> Peora (8km) and Peora -> Almora (16 km, 5 hrs)
    c) Talla (lower) Ramgarh -> Mukteshwar is a 3-4 hrs trek.
The route up to Ramgarh from Ranibagh is not clear. There are trekking routes in the Sat tal area (more on India mikes)
It will be better if you post to the thread in India Mikes -
(http://www.indiamike.com/india/uttarakhand-f135/walking-from-kathgodam-to-almora-t121165/) I will post there if I find anything more - regards
