I am blown away!! What an absolutely stunning and beautiful piece of writing. And the imagery was so vivid, it felt like I myself was on my way to Chandrataal, hitching rides and travelling in the backs of trucks. Incidentally, there is a short story by Ruskin Bond I read a long time ago, about a Sikh driver who spent his lifetime driving trucks on treacherous Himalayan roads… this piece reminded me of that story, as Ruskin Bond had also touched upon the difficulties of being a truck driver in the mountains. Please convey my admiration to uncle! I’ve read many paeans to Spiti and Chandrataal but this is undoubtedly my favourite. :-)
